Proposal for providing incentive to the entities under Maternity Act. - The Maternity Benefit Act,1961
The Ministry of Labour and Employment is proposing to support the Employers by providing incentive to encourage employment of women. It is proposed that from the Government of India, 7 weeks wages shall be reimbursed to employers who employ women workers and provide maternity benefit of 26 weeks paid leaves, as provided for in the Maternity benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017. Women employee should be a wage earner of less than Rs.15,000/- per month, a member of EPFO for at least 1 year and not covered under ESIC.
