The liability for payment of EPF dues, in the case of transfer of assets of the establishment to any other party, is cast jointly and severally upon transferor and transferee employers upto the date of transfer. - The Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952

Liability of transferee is limited to the value of assets transferred to it. However, liability of EPF dues after transfer is only upon the transferee.
